Maintenance and support for a smooth-running website

Most companies are very happy and proud when their new website goes live. Everything works great, product and service information is up to date, and many times new features are available for customers. However, a state-of-the-art solution can quickly become outdated.

On a platform like WordPress, we’ve noticed that updates are often skipped, extensions become outdated, the website starts to slow down and it could even be hacked by malware. Slowly but surely, what was initially a beautiful website becomes an embarrassing one, as it no longer represents the professional image of the company.

In addition, the world of the Web is constantly changing. Google routinely changes its algorithm that determines the ranking of websites, customer expectations are increasing and customers are using mobile devices more to browse the web. The result: everyday, your company’s website becomes a little less efficient. With website support and maintenance services, your website will be in good shape for years to come.

Keep your website updated on a regular basis

After seeing too many outdated websites, Bridge Media knows that regular maintenance and upkeep is crucial to the longevity of a website.

Therefore, we have developed a support and maintenance plan that contains the necessary steps to protect and keep your website running smoothly.

1.

A 3-2-1 backup strategy

First, we make sure that your website has automatic backups in place with your hosting provider. If this is not the case, you should consider our hosting plan. However, backups at the hosting company are not sufficient, as they can be corrupted if there’s a problem there. We therefore set up an automated backup system with an external service. This way, in case of a problem at the host, we can easily and quickly put your website online on another server.

2.

WordPress and other updates

If your website is built on WordPress, we update the WordPress platform and extensions, and then test them to ensure compatibility with your website and its content. This means your site will have the latest fixes and protection against attacks. We can also perform the update on other platforms such as Drupal.

In addition to the website, we also check the server technology environment, which includes verifying the PHP version. Over the years, we’ve seen web servers running 5.6 PHP, which is no longer supported as of January 1, 2019! 🤦 Only versions 7.4 and 8 are actively supported.

3.

Security analysis and additional protection against attacks

Bridge Media checks for potential security issues to ensure your website is following security best practices. This includes scanning website files for malware infiltration.

Our team also implements additional protection against attacks by blocking access to suspicious users.
